Inclement Weather Announcements
Please note that the Shenandoah Academy of Dance follows its own inclement weather closings, cancellations or delays. In the past, I have followed the Buena Vista City Schools' closings but have found that more often than not, I could have safely held classes when schools were closed. So the studio makes its own decisions.
1. The condition of the roads in and around Buena Vista
2. My ability to clear the sidewalk outside the studio (just because the road may be clear, the sidewalk may not be .. )
3. Threat of continuing snow / ice during the evening's class schedule
I will also reserve the right to conduct classes for the more advanced students who are usually more mindful of icy sidewalks ... I see how kids dart in and out of the building and into cars before and after classes .. and not for the younger classes.
Of course, no closing rule outweighs the judgement call of any parent. If you know you cannot safely make it to the studio and back because of where you live, please stay safe regardless of my decision. I can't possibly know what your road conditions are like. I can only judge by where I am at the time. I would much rather have your child miss a class than have a parent and student(s) in an accident. Use your best judgement. If considerable amounts of students miss one particular class due to inclement weather, you all know I will do anything I can to make up a class.
So, check here first. I will also post to Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/shenandoahacademyofdance ). Avoid inboxing or texting me ... I get swamped with texts and inbox messages every time it snows. This policy will also get posted in the studio.
